Exploring the National Idea of Azerbaijan in the 21st Century

"Ideas Unite" is about more than just defining a national idea; it's about bringing together diverse perspectives to envision a future that is inclusive, forward-looking, and rooted in the rich heritage and aspirations of the Azerbaijani people.

The Caspian-Alpine Society is proud to introduce “Ideas Unite,” a pioneering project aimed at exploring and defining the national idea of Azerbaijan in the 21st century. This initiative seeks to engage intellectuals, scientists, and the broader public in a deep reflection on Azerbaijan’s aspirations, values, and vision for the future, in a rapidly changing and often unstable world.

Project Vision

At a time when global challenges test our resilience and unity, understanding and articulating a national idea that guides development, policy, and international relations becomes crucial. “Ideas Unite” aims to bring together voices from across Azerbaijan and Switzerland to contribute to a dialogue that reflects on where Azerbaijan is headed and what it seeks to achieve on the global stage.

Objectives

Foster Reflective Dialogue: Create a platform for open discussion among Azerbaijani and Swiss intellectuals, scientists, and the public on the evolving national idea of Azerbaijan.

Bridge Cultures: Leverage Switzerland’s experience in nurturing a society that values diversity, neutrality, and peace to inspire similar values in the Azerbaijani context.

Articulate a Vision: Through collaborative discussions, aim to articulate a vision for Azerbaijan’s future that resonates with both its historical roots and aspirations for the 21st century.

Encourage Civic Engagement: Inspire the Azerbaijani diaspora and the broader public to actively engage in shaping the country’s national identity and future direction.

Program Components

Series of Roundtables: Organize roundtable discussions in Switzerland and Azerbaijan, featuring a diverse panel of speakers to explore different facets of the national idea.

Public Forums and Workshops: Host forums and workshops that invite public participation, encouraging a broad discussion on Azerbaijan’s future and its role in the world.
